Gross Anatomy: the Digestive System
This activity for all ages teaches the various parts of the digestive system - from the mouth through the stomach and intestines to...well..you know where it goes. Students act out, learn about, and perform a digestive system simulation to turn actual food into the finished product: poop!*
Recommended Ages: 6+
Required Time: 60-90 minutes
*Students will not interact with any unsanitary materials throughout the course of this lesson. However, strong stomachs are recommended.
Instructor Information:Students will learn about the essential functions of the mouth, esophagus, stomach, large and small intestines, and sphincters. In addition, students will learn fun facts including how much spit they produce in a day, what types of processes are involved in the digestive system, and how our food becomes acidic and neutralizes with bases.
